The most common of theatrical curtains, these can be a Guillotine (flying) Curtains which rise above the proscenium or  Traveler Curtains,  which part at the center and move to the sides.

Also known as Tabbed, Tableau Curtains             consists of two overlapping panels. It is opened by pulling the  lower inside corners diagonally upward and outward.

Also known as Profile or Contour Curtains, these consist of a single pleated panel which can be opened at various heights and configurations because the vertical ropes are individually adjustable.

Raised by multiple vertical riggings. Permanent swagging pleats are sewn between the riggings and the bottom  edge is often finished with decorative fringe or tassels.

Masking curtains are used to “hide” stage equipment and off-stage areas and can be falt of pleated with fullness. They consist of three key elements: Borders: hide lights and other equipment above the stage. Legs: side curtains used for hiding off-stage areas and provide wings for entrances and side lights. Midstage/Rear Travelers: stage dividers to create smaller spaces or to hide equipment or backdrops near the back wall.

Flat - Flat curtains are not pleated or gathered. Used for cycs, masking and drops the
fabric panels are simply sewn to edge.

Fullness - Curtains that are pleated or gathered (sometimes called shirring) are
considered curtains with fullness. Generally referred to as horizontal fullness, it's the
percentage of additional fabric needed for pleating or gathering. Pleats add depth and
interest to a drape and help absorb light.
